Democracy wins to celebrate

It's easy to focus on all that is wrong, cruel, and harmful, but noticing the good things is just as important. When we only see the problems, we lose sight of our power to create change and forget that resistance is actually working. Celebrating wins - big and small - reminds us that our efforts matter and gives us the energy to keep fighting for what's right.

This week brought a powerful reminder that our democratic institutions, when pushed, can still protect us. Federal courts stepped up to block government overreach, stopping mass layoffs and illegal takeovers of public institutions. The legal system showed it can serve as a meaningful check on executive power. Meanwhile, workers across the country continued building unprecedented collective power for the future, and even some of the architects of harmful policies stepped away from their posts.
